Our Retirement Celebration Fall Tour

We set out on a cool and rainy fall day, Oct. 1, for the 300 mile trek to Duluth to begin our retirement celebration vacation. Being a teacher, I never had the opportunity to take an extended trip in the fall and I love the beautiful fall foliage so this was a trip I had been yearning for! I also love waterfalls so that was my “goal” – to hike, More

Our Amazing Circle Tour

The lighthouses and waterfalls were spectacular. Amnicon Falls, Gooseberry Falls, Tahquamemon Falls were great. The Shipwreck Museum at Whitefish Point on a rainy, windy day reminded us just how stormy Lake Superior can be. We took the sunset cruise at Pictured Rocks and were on the cruise ship when a family of four were rescued from the rocky coastline. Favorite lighthouse- Split Rock Lighthouse Ruby & Bill Dow, Mauston, WI

My Solo Adventure around Mother Superior

A first solo adventure! I drove from Marquette, MI clockwise around Lake Superior, having returned a few days ago. I live a few blocks from the Lake here and I thought it was high time I saw it from other vantage points. This trip did not disappoint. I stopped in Ashland, Wisconsin at the Black Cat Cafe for a quick breakfast and made my first overnight at Cascade River State More

Circling the Pond

This is our first long adventure with our “new” Little Guy teardrop-style camper. We enjoyed being off the ground, dry and warm during the mostly damp days of June 24 – July 7. Our major interests were fly fishing, canoeing and finding EarthCaches, but the tour guide led us to other treasures including many well-done visitor center displays. Our tour began in Grand Marais, Minnesota, where we spent two nights at More

50th Birthday Trip

We found out that we were about a month early for being on 2 wheels! Overall, the weather was very cool and rainy almost every day. We did have a few days of nicer weather, but it never got above about 55 degrees most days. Even with all of that, we did have a wonderful trip. We decided to officially start our trip in Duluth, MN. We stopped at Two More

Great Scenery

My husband and I have been to Lake Superior five times, beginning in September 2005. During that trip with my brother and sister-in-law, we stayed in Michigan, visiting Sault Ste. Marie, Tahquamenon Falls, Munising and Copper Harbor among other places. We especially enjoyed going through the locks in Sault Ste. Marie and the boat ride to see Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Out time was limited, so we were able to More

Joining the Circle Tour Club

Hi, I would like to get a Circle Tour sticker and certificate for my wife and myself. We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary by circling Superior clockwise Sept. 7-14. Our daughter moved to Duluth several years ago. She got me to subscribe to your wonderful magazine and I used it extensively in planning out the trip. Our plan was to see as many waterfalls as we could and also many More

Highlights From Our Lake Superior Circle Tour

Distance Traveled: 3,748 kilometers. Do it in your corvette; do it on your motorcycle; do it in your tin car or pick-up truck. It doesn’t matter how you travel this route, just do it! You will see interesting sights, spectacular scenery and the real beauty of the Canadian North. On Aug. 10, John and I in our Altima and BFF Betty in her Mercedes headed out on a trip of More

A Wonderful Trip!

We did the Lake Superior Circle Tour from July 3-12, 2015. What an awesome trip! It is so hard to pick favorites. Loved the view of Split Rock Lighthouse from afar. Watching climbers at Palisades Cliffs. Grand Marais was a cute little town (great meal at The Angry Trout). We saw a bear on the Gunflint Trail. High Falls and Kakabeka Falls were just the beginning of many beautiful falls. More

Completed in Two Segments

We completed the Lake Superior Circle Tour a few weeks back. The details of our travels are as follows: In 2012, we travelled in our 26-foot Coach House Motor Home up the east coast and across the north to Michigan and up to Sault Ste. Marie. We stayed at the Soo Locks Campground on Aug. 1 for 3 nights. Next we headed to Tahquamenon Falls and then stayed at Gitchie More
