September 2018 Circle Tour

We started September 7th in Duluth and circled counter clockwise. We had been to Bayfield and Ashland before, so we decided to skip them this time and head directly into Michigan. Highlights in Michigan: Cold Iron Brewery in Ironwood. Of the breweries we stopped at during our tour, these guys were the best. Also, we recommend eating at Don & GG’s, which offers both vegetarian and vegan options; hiking the More

CanAm Around the Lake

We had the best time taking our Spyder around Lake Superior! Overall breath taking views of the lake all the way around. We had Great weather the entire time 70’s – mid 80’s every day. Missed the rain the entire trip. We were too early for most of the fall colors, but did see some. Trip Complete!

Some of our favorite spots: Pictured Rocks, The Fishbasket in Munising, MI, Laurium Manor Inn in Laurium, MI. We loved the Soo Locks as well as the Lockview Restaurant there. In Wawa, ON, the Kinniwabi Pines Restaurant was great! In Lake Superior Provincial Park, the Agawa Pictographs were well worth the rugged hike. Also a great hike in Pukaskwa National Park. We had an excellent stay at the Quebec Inn More

Camp, Kayak and Golf…

We began our trip at Pictured Rocks with a day of hiking and a late afternoon of kayaking at dusk on Kingston Lake. The next day we golfed in Brimley overlooking the lake and the “1,000 footers.” We camped in “The Soo” to the pleasant sounds of ship horns heading into and out of the locks. After a morning of more ship viewing and stocking up on provisions, we had More

Great Scenery

My husband and I have been to Lake Superior five times, beginning in September 2005. During that trip with my brother and sister-in-law, we stayed in Michigan, visiting Sault Ste. Marie, Tahquamenon Falls, Munising and Copper Harbor among other places. We especially enjoyed going through the locks in Sault Ste. Marie and the boat ride to see Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Out time was limited, so we were able to More

Our daughter moved to Duluth several years ago. She got me to subscribe to your wonderful magazine and I used it extensively in planning out the trip. Our plan was to see as many waterfalls as we could and also many More

My husband and I embarked on the circle tour on Aug. 2 (Tuesday) and completed it on Aug. 13 (Saturday) with a thoroughly enjoyable amble around the Lake by car.
