Memorable Trip with Friends

Four adults, two dogs, two campers, a Jeep and a truck. That was the formula for the most memorable trip we have ever had. Started in Grand Marais, MI driving clockwise with stops everywhere. Three weeks was the ideal time for us and we ended in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. We found that the Lake Superior Travel Guide magazine had perfect suggestions, from where to stay to places to eat. More

Circle tour by motorhome

We started the circle tour at Sault Ste. Marie after traveling up from Pennsylvania. Traveling counterclockwise, we stayed at provincial parks and municipal campgrounds for most of the trip. We found the route to be RV friendly, with good roads and plenty of parking and pull-offs. Contrasting with our familiar Lake Erie shoreline, we were delightfully surprised by the number of islands and the beautiful uncrowded rocky shores. Highlights for More

Circle Tour 30/60

2016 was the year I was to turn 60 and my darling daughter and best traveling companion turned 30, so we thought we would mark the occasion with a mother/daughter trip! We asked for advice via Facebook for the best travel destination. We researched areas throughout the United States and ultimately decided we would do the Lake Superior Circle Tour– and we are so glad we did!! We decided that More

Superior Circle Tour Adventure 2018

After reading the article in the Minneapolis Star Tribune, we got excited and without much planning, decided to go for it! We traveled with our friends with their RV and trailed with our car and let the Lake Superior Travel Guide (I highly recommend it) lead us on our adventure. The weather was perfect each day, and the views were fantastic! A few of our many favorite spots were Grand More

Camp, Kayak and Golf…

We began our trip at Pictured Rocks with a day of hiking and a late afternoon of kayaking at dusk on Kingston Lake. The next day we golfed in Brimley overlooking the lake and the “1,000 footers.” We camped in “The Soo” to the pleasant sounds of ship horns heading into and out of the locks. After a morning of more ship viewing and stocking up on provisions, we had More

Our Favorite Stops

Our favorite stops included Sleeping Giant Provincial Park in Canada (we stayed in a park cabin) and Whitefish Point (and the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum) at Whitefish Point. We used your special magazine tour guide that we purchased at the Tall Ships Festival and it was extremely helpful. Betsey & Dave Pasley, San Antonio, TX

My husband and I just returned after completing the Lake Superior Circle Tour. We left on Tuesday, Aug. 16 and returned Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016. Day #2 we traveled to Thunder Bay, Ontario and camped at Sleeping Giant Provincial Park. Day #3 we went to Kakabaka Falls and More

Our Lake Superior Circle Camping Trip

We began in Toronto, north to Algonquin Provincial Park on July 13, then to Killarney Provincial Park (strictly speaking Georgian Bay, but gorgeous), past Sault Ste. Marie to Rabbit Blanket campground in Lake Superior Provincial Park. Absolutely fantastic sights and great hiking! And between the thunderstorms the weather was brilliant! Next we camped at Pukaskwa National Park for wild and beautiful vistas. Bald eagles on a tree over our tent More

Favorite Spots Were in Thunder Bay

We completed the Lake Superior Circle Tour from July 11-15, 2016. Our favorite spots were the two days we spent in Thunder Bay touring Fort William, Amethyst Mine Panorama and Sleeping Giant Provincial Park. Being from Minnesota, we had already toured the North Shore between Duluth and Grand Portage several times, so it was great to see Lake Superior the rest of the way around! A Very Enjoyable Trip

My son, mother and I took the Lake Superior Circle Tour in August 2015. It was a very enjoyable trip. Our favorites were Duluth, Copper Harbor, Pictured Rocks, Ouimet Canyon, Sleeping Giant, and so many more places. Lots of waterfalls, and they were all so beautiful. My 19-year-old son did all of the planning using the Lake Superior Travel Guide and the Lake Superior, The Ultimate Guide to the Region. More
