The Entire Trip Was a Blast

We traveled clockwise around Lake Superior starting on September 3, 2012, and finishing on September 8. We started in Northern Wisconsin, and took the Highway 13 loop to see Bayfield and the Apostle Islands. Stopped at several state parks on the north shore of Minnesota and camped at Split Rock Lighthouse State Park. Spent three days in Canada, camping at Sleeping Giant, Neys and Lake Superior provincial parks. Also stopped More

We’re Hooked!

Favorite spots and experiences: We spent almost 5 weeks traveling around Lake Superior in our little motorhome with our Springer spaniel, Polly. We’re hooked! Lake Superior really gets to you. Marc’s favorite spot was Pukaskwa National Park on the east side of the lake. The hiking there was spectacular, with views of the lake that reminded him of his home state of Maine. I liked Sleeping Giant Provincial Park, for More

The Circle Tour book was very handy to flag points of interest. We really enjoyed the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum at Whitefish Point, Quincy Mine Tour and Split Rock Lighthouse. The ride around the Keweenaw Peninsula was especially lovely. The best by More

We left the night of September 30th from Minneapolis in my brand new Chevy Silverado truck that had less than 200 miles on it. We drove all night straight to Thunder Bay, Ontario, with a short stop in Duluth at Canal Park to ‘officially’ kick off our More

25+ Years Ago and Still a Lasting Memory

A high school friend and I and her teenager son circled the lake back in 1993 in a counterclockwise direction. We camped the entire way through wind, torrential rain, heat, and hordes of mosquitoes, but our lasting memories are of the incredible beauty and the magical draw of the one and only, Big lake. Our memories include views from the Lake of the Clouds, Brockway Mountain, and the Grand Sable More
