Camping around the lake

We started clockwise around the lake at Duluth. Since we like to take our time and not be on a schedule we opted to camp and not make the suggested hotel reservations. Before leaving, we purchased a MN State Parks pass and were able to camp at all the State Parks going up the North Shore of MN. We never had a problem finding a camp spot. Minnesota makes it More

The Merry Widows on the Circle Tour

We started in Duluth, MN and ended in Ontonagon, MI. Or favorite stops in Minnesota were Two Harbors, Beaver Bay and Gooseberry Falls. The Ontario section of the trip included beautiful scenery. We stopped at the Diamond Willow Amethyst Mine just after a rain and found plenty of jewels. We enjoyed our dinner at the Serendipity Gardens Cafe in Rossport. White River, birthplace of Winnie the Pooh, was an educational More

Lake Superior Circle Tour – Bucket List, check!

We traveled clockwise around the Big Lake; starting in Ironwood, MI at Little Girls Point. The lake water here was extremely dark red mud stained due to recent heavy rains and there was no swimming because of e-coli concerns. Our first night was spent in Bayfield, WI which was beautiful as always. We passed through Duluth/Superior without stopping if an effort to experience Gooseberry Falls and Split Rock Lighthouse (time More

Wonder adventure

We took our time, sixteen days in total. We drove from Battle Creek, Michigan to Mackinaw City on our first day and then crossed the big bridge and drove into Sault Sainte Marie, Ontario and to Batchawana Bay on the 2nd day. The Superior Provincial Park was gorgeous, particularly the Sand River waterfalls. Our next stop was Rossport where we stayed at a lovely B & B called The Willows. More

A Trip We Will Never Forget

We’d like to join the Lake Superior Circle Tour Club! On Monday, Sept. 5, 2016, my husband and I left California to start a 7,800 mile road trip, with the highlight being circling Lake Superior, the only Great Lake we hadn’t seen. We arrived in Duluth on Tuesday. Sept 13. Our first stop was the Lake Superior Outlet Store where we bought the Lake Superior Travel Guide and the Lake More

Our Tour

My sister and I celebrated our June birthdays this year by driving around this beautiful lake (she is 66 and I am 75 years old). We drove clockwise and took eight days, and we should have taken more time because we missed a lot. We really loved the Keweenaw Peninsula and would love to go back in the fall to Eagle Harbor and Copper Harbor. Some of the high notes More

Loved It All

Started the trip Sept. 10 and ended the trip Sept.19. Spent nine days driving around the lake. We drove a little over 1,600 miles with the side trips. Loved it all. It was like three different scenic areas. The first one was the Minnesota north shore. Been there several times in the past, but never been past Grand Marais before. The second area was past Thunder Bay. It was just a More

Highly Recommend It

We arrived in Duluth on June 21 and returned on July 5 after going clockwise around the lake. My dad had been on several mine tours before but thought the Soudan Underground Mine’s was the best he had seen. He was also impressed with Quincy’s. We had beautiful weather so we were really able to enjoy the shore views and waterfalls. I really enjoyed discovering the various views of Split More
