CanAm Around the Lake

We had the best time taking our Spyder around Lake Superior! Overall breath taking views of the lake all the way around. We had Great weather the entire time 70’s – mid 80’s every day. Missed the rain the entire trip. We were too early for most of the fall colors, but did see some. Favorite touristy spots – Gooseberry Falls (MN), Fort William, Kakabeka Falls (Thunder Bay area), Soo More

A Wonderful Trip!

We did the Lake Superior Circle Tour from July 3-12, 2015. What an awesome trip! It is so hard to pick favorites. Loved the view of Split Rock Lighthouse from afar. Watching climbers at Palisades Cliffs. Grand Marais was a cute little town (great meal at The Angry Trout). We saw a bear on the Gunflint Trail. High Falls and Kakabeka Falls were just the beginning of many beautiful falls. More

Everything I Had Dreamed Of

I completed the circle tour by vehicle, specifically in my Jeep Cherokee, in 2014. I started by driving through Wisconsin. I made it to the north shore and found Cornucopia. This little town will forever be in my top favorite destinations. I found it by accident as the road I was on turned into a detour due to construction. There was a motel on the corner and next to it, More

We Loved All of It

We have just completed our first circle tour of Lake Superior. It has been in two parts. Summer 2012: we traveled in Michigan from Sault Ste. Marie to Copper Harbor, over a period of about 8 days. We (wife, Karen, and our 90# flat-coat retriever named Jake) were camping along the way except in Copper Harbor, when we stayed in the King Copper Motel. We loved all of it … More

My Favorite Parts

My favorite parts were: Staying at the B&B at the Whitefish Point Shipwreck Museum; Pictured Rocks – hiking after the boat cruise cancelled due to fog; the B&B on the beach in Rossport, Ontario; the Voyageur Lodge in Batchawana Bay, Ontario; Madeline Island, Wisconsin. Our Trip Around Lake Superior

Starting on July 2, 2013, my husband and I made the trip around Lake Superior. Starting from Milford, Michigan, we entered Canada at Sault Ste. Marie. We spent the first two nights at Lake Superior Provincial Park, tent camping at the Agawa Bay campground. We loved the quiet, no-radio sites, hiking to the waterfalls on the Sand River and seeing the pictographs at Agawa Rock. From there we drove to More

We Loved the Trip

Our family recently completed a Circle Tour of Lake Superior. The dates of our trip were June 23-July 4, 2013. Since we were already familiar with Duluth and the North Shore, we decided to start at Duluth following a counterclockwise loop. We enjoyed going this way, except for our guidebook listed things in the opposite order, which made some directions a little harder to follow. We loved the trip and More

Best Trip We Have Ever Made in Our RV

We had a great time doing the Circle Tour. We made it a wonderful family caravan camping trip, which our son-in-law and daughter planned in January. We laughed that the fog off the lake made us feel like we were traveling in the clouds. We loved Kakabeka Falls, the Amethyst Mines and Fort William. We stopped along the roadside and built a Inukshuk family from the rock, which I think More

The Scenery Is Breathtaking

My wife and I just completed a wonderful, nine-day, 1,717-mile drive around Lake Superior. We traveled counterclockwise from Bayfield, Wisconsin. We departed on Saturday, July 9, 2011, and completed the circle on Sunday, July 17. Weather was definitely our friend with a touch of rain on the first and eighth days only. The sun ruled supreme otherwise. In fact, thanks to Ontario’s Eastern Daylight Time zone, the sun didn’t set More

A Memorable Adventure

My wife Gail L. Forsyth-Vail went around Lake Superior (from the Soo to the Soo) in the summer of 2008 by car, camping along the way. It was one of her most memorable adventures! She especially loved Madeline Island, as an old High School friend lives there now. She made a “small” side trip to Winnipeg from Thunder Bay and back before continuing across the top back to the Soo. More
