Great Hiking! – Not Just Driving!

We started at the Soo, took a boat trip through the locks, and then headed north and counterclockwise around the lake. Starting the trip in the least populated Canadian areas really set the tone for getting away from suburbia! We knew we’d be doing a lot of driving, so we planned stops at parks to make sure we got plenty of exercise. We quickly found we didn’t need to “schedule” More

Bucket List Trip

We left home in the Twin Cities on our 2018 Honda Goldwing doing the circle tour clockwise. Because we’ve been to Duluth many times, as well as Split Rock Lighthouse, Gooseberry Falls, etc. we didn’t stop at those places. We had a delicious lunch at The Rustic Inn in Castle Danger and continued on to Grand Marais, MN for the night. We don’t recommend staying at the Shoreline Motel, as More

Our Circle Tour

We started in Grand Marais, Michigan and headed west around the lakeshore. We skipped the Keweenaw Peninsula as we’d done it before and will do it again! Enjoyed a beach picnic and fresh artesian well water in Ashland Wisconsin, and on to Duluth. Minnesota was my favorite stretch of the trip – Glensheen mansion, Gooseberry Falls, Split Rock lighthouse, Grand Marais. The Grand Portage Heritage Center and Fort William in More

Had a Blast

We completed the tour today, September 17, 2016. We went in our 1995 RoadTrek, and had a blast. We loved all of it, but our favorite spots were Old Woman Bay and Katherine Cove in Lake Superior Provincial Park, and Blue Point Amethyst Mine north of Thunder Bay. We’re excited to members of the club! Ella Huwe & Carlie Carow, Fargo, ND

We Loved the Trip

Our family recently completed a Circle Tour of Lake Superior. The dates of our trip were June 23-July 4, 2013. Since we were already familiar with Duluth and the North Shore, we decided to start at Duluth following a counterclockwise loop. We enjoyed going this way, except for our guidebook listed things in the opposite order, which made some directions a little harder to follow. We loved the trip and More

Our Circle Tour

Monday, July 11-Tuesday, July 18, 2011. Our Lake Superior Circle Tour began with a very strategic stop at the Lake Superior Magazine (LSM) office (310 E. Superior Street, Duluth, Minnesota) where we spoke to the helpful staff and purchased Lake Superior, the Ultimate Guide to the Region published by LSM. This book was a helpful addition to all of the maps and tour books we received from AAA (Automobile Club More

The Scenery Is Breathtaking

My wife and I just completed a wonderful, nine-day, 1,717-mile drive around Lake Superior. We traveled counterclockwise from Bayfield, Wisconsin. We departed on Saturday, July 9, 2011, and completed the circle on Sunday, July 17. Weather was definitely our friend with a touch of rain on the first and eighth days only. The sun ruled supreme otherwise. In fact, thanks to Ontario’s Eastern Daylight Time zone, the sun didn’t set More
