From Duluth Clockwise

We loved the friendliness of people all along our way, and some favorite spots were the Lakewalk area in Thunder Bay, the view of the Sleeping Giant, watching the ships, Mt. McKay in Thunder Bay — our namesake mountain! In Michigan, Brockway Mountain and Copper Harbor. The Lake Superior Travel Guide was an invaluable resource! Don & Connie McKay, Center City, MN

September 2018 Circle Tour

We started September 7th in Duluth and circled counter clockwise. We had been to Bayfield and Ashland before, so we decided to skip them this time and head directly into Michigan. Highlights in Michigan: Cold Iron Brewery in Ironwood. Of the breweries we stopped at during our tour, these guys were the best. Also, we recommend eating at Don & GG’s, which offers both vegetarian and vegan options; hiking the More

Beautiful September Weather!

We started in Duluth and the weather was fabulous for September. Favorites: We saw numerous waterfalls. Enjoyed the Museum at Whitefish Point — it was so beautiful, plus we saw 2 boats passing out front of the lookout, and the lighthouse was interesting too. We also saw 2 ships passing through the locks at Sault Ste. Marie. We took a trip to Mackinaw Island and had a delicious (but expensive) More

Camping around the lake

We started clockwise around the lake at Duluth. Since we like to take our time and not be on a schedule we opted to camp and not make the suggested hotel reservations. Before leaving, we purchased a MN State Parks pass and were able to camp at all the State Parks going up the North Shore of MN. We never had a problem finding a camp spot. Minnesota makes it More

Retirement Celebration Circle Tour

We spent two leisurely weeks camping on the circle tour. The Provincial Parks in Ontario are outstanding for camping and hiking. We recommend bringing extension cords if you will be using electric sites in Ontario. The Lake Superior Travel Guide was helpful in finding scenic stops in between parks. The hardest place to find camping was at Munising so reservations are recommended. Also a note that Pictured Rocks does not More

Our Circle Tour

We have a place in the forest near Mellen, WI, so we started at the Northern Great Lakes Visitors Center in Ashland, WI. It’s such an interesting place. So much information! We drove clockwise to Duluth, and on to Lutsen, MN. Stayed at the Eagle Ridge Resort. Great place, rode the gondola, and the chair lift. Hiked and rode the Alpine Slide. Not bad for “old people”!! Stayed 2 nights, More

CanAm Around the Lake

We had the best time taking our Spyder around Lake Superior! Overall breath taking views of the lake all the way around. We had Great weather the entire time 70’s – mid 80’s every day. Missed the rain the entire trip. We were too early for most of the fall colors, but did see some. Favorite touristy spots – Gooseberry Falls (MN), Fort William, Kakabeka Falls (Thunder Bay area), Soo More
