Our Retirement Celebration Fall Tour

We set out on a cool and rainy fall day, Oct. 1, for the 300 mile trek to Duluth to begin our retirement celebration vacation. Being a teacher, I never had the opportunity to take an extended trip in the fall and I love the beautiful fall foliage so this was a trip I had been yearning for! I also love waterfalls so that was my “goal” – to hike, More

Our tour

We traveled relatively quickly circled in just 5 days. Loved the fall colors and beautiful scenery. We even saw 2 moose between Wawa and Marathon. Eric, Denise and Justin Arthur, Hammond, WI

Memorable Trip with Friends

Four adults, two dogs, two campers, a Jeep and a truck. That was the formula for the most memorable trip we have ever had. Started in Grand Marais, MI driving clockwise with stops everywhere. Three weeks was the ideal time for us and we ended in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. We found that the Lake Superior Travel Guide magazine had perfect suggestions, from where to stay to places to eat. More

1500 miles + 6 nights + 3 states + 2 countries + 1 province = countless September Superior views!

Our First Lake Superior Tour

We decided in early spring to do the tour and ordered the Lake Superior Travel Guide & Guide Book to help us decide our route, and where we wanted to stop. It was our decision to do the tour counter clockwise, as we have been along the north shore several times and if we ran short on time, or could not get reservations (We winged it with no reservations) we More

Lake Superior Circle Tour

While there we visited Fort William and Kakabeka Falls, and then traveled to Wawa, ON. In Wawa, we visited the large goose statue More

September Circle – Anti-Clockwise!!

We live in Northern Wisconsin and spend a fair amount of time on the Big Lake west of Ontonagon and we decided on a spur of the moment to circumnavigate Superior! We have friends in Ely, MN that we’ve been trying to see, so decided to get over there by going around the lake counter-clockwise and they met us in Duluth. Everything other than the south shore was “new country” More

Lake Superior LOVE

We began our overloading adventure in Marquette, MI and headed counter-clockwise around the lake to end in Houghton, MI, a place special to us. We have an overloading setup and chose early Fall to experience a little bit of the colors but warm enough to be mildly comfortable in our rooftop tent. Some of our favorite locations (in order) are the Log Slide Overlook in Grand Marais, MI, the Great More
