A Pre-Fall Tour

I didn’t think about Fall Colors when I planned this trip. Saw some color on the Keeweenau Peninsula, but that’s the only place. Enjoyed revisiting the South Shore and Sault Ste. Marie. The Canadian Bushpilot Heritage Center in the Sault Ste. Marie, Canada, is an awesome place for plane enthusiasts. The best views of the Big Lake were on the North Shore where I spend my summers.

Hills of Fire— Fall Camping Around the Lake

We took our tour counterclockwise starting in Iron River. We took the Ale tour, making sure to (safely) stop at each brewery as we made our way around the lake. Autumn Glory

We decided to allow two weeks so we could do everything we wanted and that was plenty of time. We took our 33′ fifth wheel trailer and were worried about campgrounds due to fall colors, but had no issues finding a spot to camp. There were a few campgrounds that closed Labor Day so I did do some calling ahead once we were close. I did not pre-book camp sites. More

Beautiful Lake Superior

We traveled clockwise around the lake, starting in Munising, MI. We then traveled west to Duluth, MN, entered Canada and stayed in Thunder Bay. We then traveled to Terrace Bay, Wawa, and Sault Ste. Marie. We backtracked a little after that to hit the Tahquamenon Falls before voyaging back around east side of Lake Michigan. We loved the fall color and it even snowed on us in Wawa! The lake More
