Yes, we did it!

Just finished an amazing tour around Lake Superior. Started in Sault St. Marie, Ontario and continued counterclockwise. We saw much more than expected and were impressed by nature’s beauty. Give yourself at least 1 or 2 extra days, so that you have enough time to fully indulge in your journey around the Big Lake. Nadja and Joerg, Saline MI

2019 Lake Superior Circle Tour

We had taken this trip July 2013 traveling clockwise by car and staying at motels. This was pre-retirement, so we were both watching the clock/calendar, mindful of how many miles we needed to complete each day. It was a wonderful trip! We are now both retired, and purchased a Vistabule teardrop camping trailer that we tow with our Jeep. We decided to take the tour again, but counter-clockwise, camping along More

Once around the Big Lake

We traveled with 2 couples, convoy-style, clockwise beginning and ending in Duluth. Our first day was just spent enjoying the sights of Duluth. We spent time at Canal Park, Hoops Brewery and Burrito union, Two couples stayed at Park Point Marina Inn & Harbor where we finished off our day playing dominoes. Day 2 Duluth – Thunder Bay: I always enjoy the view at Palisade Head so we made a More

Our Amazing Circle Tour

The lighthouses and waterfalls were spectacular. Amnicon Falls, Gooseberry Falls, Tahquamemon Falls were great. The Shipwreck Museum at Whitefish Point on a rainy, windy day reminded us just how stormy Lake Superior can be. We took the sunset cruise at Pictured Rocks and were on the cruise ship when a family of four were rescued from the rocky coastline. The Big Lake. We did it!

A most amazing trip, we started from home in the Seattle area in late May pulling our little teardrop T@b 320S and headed for the bucket list destination of a lifetime, Lake Superior! From Duluth northward, we headed to Thunder Bay for sauna and the Finnish restaurant, Hoito, and were enchanted, well fed and squeaky clean to boot. Incredible waterfalls along the way and scenic vistas. We entered back into More

2019 Lake Superior Circle Tour

We set out intending a counter-clockwise route, but realized that due to Memorial Day Weekend, we might have difficulty finding campgrounds in the U.S. We were camping at Jay Cooke State Park in our Vistabule teardrop trailer when we made the decision to go clockwise. Provincial Parks (Kakabeka, Rainbow, White Lake, Rabbit Blanket) provided great campsites on the Ontario side, and we were treated to plenty of waterfalls (as well More
