Better-Late-Than-Never Circle Tour

Judy and I are not kids but we certainly enjoyed our trip. It put in perspective the awesome vastness of the “Big Lake” as well as its beauty. Our favorite place to stay was the B&B on the Beach at Rossport, ON with the fine breakfast served by proprietors Bill and Billy Jo. For more upscale dining the Rittenhouse at Bayfield can not be topped. Judy & Joe Spencer, Duluth, More

So much to do, one week is not enough

The Lake Superior Travel Guide was an indispensable resource for planning and executing the trip. So many great places to stop and things to do, we could have spent a month doing everything we wanted. The Highlights were many. The views along the North Shore from Duluth to Sault Ste Marie were amazing. Camping at Pancake Bay Provincial Park was awesome. We had a great site right across from the More

Amazing Views of the Big Lake!

I left work early on a Thursday afternoon in Marquette and drove west to Duluth. The focus of my trip was Lake Superior’s North Shore, so the goal that first day was just to get to Duluth. On Friday, I did a little sightseeing in Duluth, including a trip to the Thompson Hill welcome center. The views from there are great, so don’t forget a stop there. The remainder of More

Our all-in-one circle tour.

We had done all the parts over the years but decided to do all-in-one. We started at Duluth and overnighted at Thunder Bay, Terrace Bay, Wawa, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario; Marquette, Copper Harbor and finished up driving to Ironwood, Bayfield and Superior. The friendliest welcome was found in Thunder Bay and Wawa and we were amazed at every stop at the sheer size of the lake. We really enjoyed hiking More

Summer 2019 Superior Tour

We circled clockwise, starting in Duluth. The lake was amazing! We did it in about 9 days, but would have easily spent more time if we could. The weather was perfect. We loved the parks, waterfalls, boat cruises but our favorite family activity was just finding a beach to skip rocks and rock hound. We made sure to earn Junior Ranger badges at all the National Park sites we went More

Circle Tour 30/60

2016 was the year I was to turn 60 and my darling daughter and best traveling companion turned 30, so we thought we would mark the occasion with a mother/daughter trip! We asked for advice via Facebook for the best travel destination. We researched areas throughout the United States and ultimately decided we would do the Lake Superior Circle Tour– and we are so glad we did!! We decided that More

Circle Tour 2019

We did our tour counter-clockwise. If we do it again (and we might!), we would definitely try going clockwise. The people in Thunder Bay and Two Harbors were super nice and seemed particularly thrilled that we were doing the tour. The north shore scenery was breathtaking and we made a point of visiting as many waterfalls as we could. We took 10 days to complete the tour, but we could More
