We took our time, sixteen days in total. We drove from Battle Creek, Michigan to Mackinaw City on our first day and then crossed the big bridge and drove into Sault Sainte Marie, Ontario and to Batchawana Bay on the 2nd day. The Superior Provincial Park was gorgeous, particularly the Sand River waterfalls. Our next stop was Rossport where we stayed at a lovely B & B called The Willows. Next stop Thunder Bay and then into Minnesota. We were surprised by the lack of fall color so late in the season, and disappointed that we saw no wildlife. Canada is remote and beautiful, and certainly sparsely populated! We are Californians so the lack of cars on the freeways was astonishing to us. In Minnesota we stayed for 3 days at the lovely Lutsen Resort. Gorgeous. Then on to Duluth where we enjoyed shopping at the Duluth Trading Company. We wished we had planned to stay in Duluth longer. From there we went to Copper Harbor, our favorite spot of the whole trip. Serene, picturesque and the fall colors were abundant. Our next three days were spent in Munising. Pictured Rocks is indescribably beautiful. The boat tour is a MUST. Sit on the right side of the boat for the best views. The next day was home, which, is always the best place to be. We loved our leisurely and beautiful trip.
