Four friends and I just completed the LSCT at the end of August. Seven great days of riding with pretty good weather, although it was very windy. Three of us were from Indiana and two from the Detroit area. We all met in Gaylord, MI and set out from there on a counterclockwise tour of the lake.
We put on a total of 2,250 miles on two Harleys and three Hondas. The only road incident we ran into was about 15 miles of major road construction in Ontario where the road was pitched, rutted, and composed of sand and rocks. This was somewhere southwest of Nipigon and did not make for a fun ride.
We met a lot of nice people and riders along the way. Seven days was a lot but we couldn’t see everything so I’m sure we will be coming back. We stayed at both large and small motels, my favorite of which was the Birchville Motel in Nipigon, Ontario. Owned by a very nice woman originally from South Africa (20 years ago), it was very neat and up to date. I would highly recommend a stay at this motel.
Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore was such a nice place.
I’m looking forward to ordering a LSCT patch for my riding vest.
