Hello from Paul and Phyllis in the state of Delaware. We have just completed the Circle Tour with the help of your guide which we couldn’t have done without. We can make the following comments to help with your guide:
The Inn on Lake Superior was great – good location, bicycles to borrow and even s’mores in the evening. Fitger’s was great for dinner and Zeitgeist was, too. The Northern Waters Smokehaus for smoked fish was great.
The Best Western Crossroads Inn in Thunder Bay was excellent, and they sent us to a Greek restaurant, Naxos, across the street, which was nice. North of Thunder Bay we visited the amethyst mine which was fun.
The Coach House at Jackfish Lake was like home. We could breakfast and dinner there – nice couple for owners.
The country store in Wawa and the visitor center were very informative and pleasant stops.
The Eagle River Inn and Fitzgerald’s Restaurant was exceptional – wonderful views right on the Lake and smoked pork or beef for dinner.
The Best Western Hotel Chequamegon in Ashland, Wisconsin, was a nice experience to learn the history, etc. The murals in the town are beautiful.
We loved learning about the lakers and salties in Duluth and Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, at the Army Corps of Engineers museums. It was fun to see their schedules for incoming and outgoing ships in order to go to the canal/locks to see the ships come through. We had no idea before our trip of the extent of mining in that area.
With the help of your guide we stopped numerous places to look for rocks – what fun!
Thanks so much for your help in making this a wonderful vacation.
