Completed the Circle Lake Superior tour this fall with two friends. We left Minneapolis on September 27 and arrived back in Minneapolis on October 7. They then returned to Oklahoma and Texas.
For the most part, we had gorgeous, warm weather and the leaves were beautiful. The highlight of the trip was the boat tour of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore out of Munising, Michigan. We took the sunset cruise and the colors in the rocks were unbelievable. We had driven through the park earlier in the day.
I highly recommend the Serendipity Gardens Café and Guest House in Rossport, Ontario. Both the inn and the restaurant were excellent. Also, the gift shop across the street with wonderful works by local artists.
If you plan to do the Skyline Parkway in Duluth, be sure to stop at the Thompson Hill Information Center. A very helpful young man there gave us a map, indicated that they had FINALLY put up signs, and encouraged us to do the entire drive through the Seven Bridges area. Persist in seeking out Enger Tower, it’s not marked, but it’s worth it. Take Hank Jensen Drive. There was no useful information about the Skyline Parkway on the internet.
