I’m writing to let you know that we have completed our Circle Tour of Lake Superior and wow, what an experience. My wife, Nancy, and I left our home in Westerville, Ohio, onboard our 2005 Honda Goldwing Trike and trailer on Thursday, August 18, 2011.
We spent the first night in Saginaw, Michigan, and then traveled to Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, on Friday. We spent the next two nights at the Soo and departed on Sunday morning. We stopped for the night in Wawa. On Monday we got caught in a rain storm and stopped for the night in Nipigon. Tuesday ended up being the most spectacular scenery day of the trip as we traveled from Nipigon to Grand Marais, Minnesota. Wednesday we traveled to Ashland, Wisconsin. And on Thursday we traveled to Marquette, Michigan. On Friday, we completed the Circle Tour and traveled on to visit friends in Hessel, Michigan, and spend the night in St Ignace.
We enjoyed the Blueberry Festival in Paradise, Michigan., the scenery from Nipigon to Thunder Bay, Kakabeka Falls, Ouimet Canyon, Grand Marais, Minnesota, and the Copper Peak Ski Jump and, of course, the Soo Locks.
We then traveled down the Lake Michigan coast and spent two more nights before getting home on Monday, August 29.
The trip was wonderful. In all we traveled 2, 563 miles in 12 days. We will do it again some day.
