Circling the Pond

This is our first long adventure with our “new” Little Guy teardrop-style camper. We enjoyed being off the ground, dry and warm during the mostly damp days of June 24 – July 7. Our major interests were fly fishing, canoeing and finding EarthCaches, but the tour guide led us to other treasures including many well-done visitor center displays. Our tour began in Grand Marais, Minnesota, where we spent two nights at More

Our Lake Superior Circle Camping Trip

We began in Toronto, north to Algonquin Provincial Park on July 13, then to Killarney Provincial Park (strictly speaking Georgian Bay, but gorgeous), past Sault Ste. Marie to Rabbit Blanket campground in Lake Superior Provincial Park. Absolutely fantastic sights and great hiking! And between the thunderstorms the weather was brilliant! Next we camped at Pukaskwa National Park for wild and beautiful vistas. Bald eagles on a tree over our tent More

A Wonderful Trip!

We did the Lake Superior Circle Tour from July 3-12, 2015. What an awesome trip! It is so hard to pick favorites. Loved the view of Split Rock Lighthouse from afar. Watching climbers at Palisades Cliffs. Grand Marais was a cute little town (great meal at The Angry Trout). We saw a bear on the Gunflint Trail. High Falls and Kakabeka Falls were just the beginning of many beautiful falls. More

Some Highlights

Some highlights: Red Rock, south of Nipigon, ON; scenery in the Pancake Bay area; Kakabeka Falls has a great farm store; saw two moose by Marathon; ate at Bight in Thunder Bay. Favorite thing to do: The Pictured Rocks cruise! Even when the weather wasn’t that great – it was terrific! Tip: bring a 200-foot extension cord with you to the provincial park campsites. You’ll need it! Kay Osborne, St. More

We Loved It

My husband (Ron Simmons) and I completed the Circle Tour during the dates of Aug. 16-25, 2014. We stayed at and enjoyed Sleeping Giant Provincial Park and Rainbow Falls Provincial Park. We day-hiked Ouimet Canyon walked the longest suspension bridge in Canada in that same area. Next trip, we will zip-line at that same location. At Rainbow Falls, we saw a large, healthy grey wolf. Our Golden Retriever (Sally) was More

Put It on Your Bucket List

We started out in Minnesota on July 11, 2014, and stopped at Gooseberry Falls for some pictures and a break. We then proceeded to Thunder Bay, Ontario, and stayed in a hotel for the evening. We took lots of pictures along the way. And the scenery was great. The next day we went to an amethyst mine and purchased a couple of items which is nice and got some more pictures. More

Certainly Will Go Again

We just got back four days ago from completing the tour on our motorcycle. What a beautiful trip! Our favorite spots had to be all of the waterfalls we saw. We even got to see a mother bear with two cubs and got pictures, it was amazing. Learned about the birthplace of Winnie the Pooh, never knew. We did a lot of exploring trails and scenic turnoffs. Met a lot More

It Was an Awesome Trip!

We would like to join the Circle Tour Club! We left St. Louis, Missouri, on June 22 and just returned home today on July 5. We drove almost exactly 3,000 miles and our stops were: Porcupine Mountains: two nights, camped, hiked. Munising: three nights, stayed in a rental property. Pictured Rocks cruise, waterfalls, bikes on Grand Island. Pancake Bay Provincial Park: three nights, stayed in yurts on beach, great fishing. More

Riding Around the Lake

My brother and I recently completed the Lake Superior Circle Tour this season. We spent June 20-23, 2014, traveling clockwise around the lake. I was on a 2006 Yamaha FZ6 and he rode a 2003 Honda ST 1100. As far as motorcycle riding goes, a full rain suit is a must, along with a few different tints of safety glasses, earplugs and gloves with extended cuffs. When crossing the border More
