Our Lake Superior Circle Camping Trip

We began in Toronto, north to Algonquin Provincial Park on July 13, then to Killarney Provincial Park (strictly speaking Georgian Bay, but gorgeous), past Sault Ste. Marie to Rabbit Blanket campground in Lake Superior Provincial Park. Absolutely fantastic sights and great hiking! And between the thunderstorms the weather was brilliant! Next we camped at Pukaskwa National Park for wild and beautiful vistas. Bald eagles on a tree over our tent More

Our Tour

My sister and I celebrated our June birthdays this year by driving around this beautiful lake (she is 66 and I am 75 years old). We drove clockwise and took eight days, and we should have taken more time because we missed a lot. We really loved the Keweenaw Peninsula and would love to go back in the fall to Eagle Harbor and Copper Harbor. Some of the high notes More

A Wonderful Trip!

We did the Lake Superior Circle Tour from July 3-12, 2015. What an awesome trip! It is so hard to pick favorites. Loved the view of Split Rock Lighthouse from afar. Watching climbers at Palisades Cliffs. Grand Marais was a cute little town (great meal at The Angry Trout). We saw a bear on the Gunflint Trail. High Falls and Kakabeka Falls were just the beginning of many beautiful falls. More

My family and I were visiting family in Minnesota and were told about the Circle Tour of Lake Superior. We took in the views and a couple of ships at the Twin Ports of Duluth and Superior. The Upper Peninsula of Michigan offers some great views of the lake. The Canadian side is just as good. Some nice places to stop along the way include Ouimet Canyon, Split Rock Lighthouse, More

A Beautiful, Scenic Ride Around Lake Superior

We left from Ishpeming and traveled east to the Canadian border, taking our time to take in all of the beautiful scenery. We stopped at the Lake Superior Provincial Park and hiked down to the Indian Pictographs. This is a piece of history that is slowly disappearing. We visited many many waterfalls and made our way to Wawa and then westward towards Thunder Bay. After that the trip south along More

Highly Recommend It

We arrived in Duluth on June 21 and returned on July 5 after going clockwise around the lake. My dad had been on several mine tours before but thought the Soudan Underground Mine’s was the best he had seen. He was also impressed with Quincy’s. We had beautiful weather so we were really able to enjoy the shore views and waterfalls. I really enjoyed discovering the various views of Split More

Really Enjoyed the Trip

My wife and I just completed the Circle Tour of Lake Superior. Almost 3,500 miles of driving from our home in Kansas City to Duluth, Minnesota, where we began the tour. We really enjoyed the trip immensely and here are some highlights: We visited the Fairlawn and Glensheen homes in Duluth as well as tried out some local food from Clyde’s and Pickwick. We traveled the North Shore, stopping at More

Our Best Experiences

We recently completed the Lake Superior Circle Tour by car as a married couple. June 18 through June 26 were the dates, start to finish, of our adventure. Our best experiences were as follows: The Pictured Rocks Cruise at Munising, Michigan. The mineral-stained cliffs were awe-inspiring with Mother Nature at her best! The boat tour provided us with up-close views at eye level as well as a verbal geological lesson More
