My Favorite Parts

My favorite parts were: Staying at the B&B at the Whitefish Point Shipwreck Museum; Pictured Rocks – hiking after the boat cruise cancelled due to fog; the B&B on the beach in Rossport, Ontario; the Voyageur Lodge in Batchawana Bay, Ontario; Madeline Island, Wisconsin. Favorites

We have completed the Circle Tour on July 4th, and wondered if there is a sticker (like you see on the back of cars) that proclaims such a feat? Favorites: Split Rock Lighthouse, Two Harbors, Minnesota, Serendipity Gardens Café, Rossport, Ontario, and “Pebble Beach” in Marathon, Ontario. Dan & Susan Orndoff, Duluth, Georgia

We Highly Recommend the Circle Tour

We did the Circle Tour from June 10-19, 2013. Some of the highlights and our favorites. Duluth – Comfort Suites Canal Park. Very nice hotel. Especially like the location. Enjoyed coffee each morning at Caribou Coffee. Duluth Pack is our favorite shop. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. Grand Marais – We stayed at Best Western Plus Superior Inn & Suites. Very nice rooms, comfortable and clean. Liked the beds. We More

Via C-Green, a 22-foot C-Dory Cruiser with twin Honda 40s. Start August 2, 2004. 7- to 10-day trips over eight summers. Finished September 1, 2012. Favorite spot – Slate Islands. Other favorites (besides the whole shore, north and south) were CPR Harbour, Munising Marina (with fresh brick-oven bread and music), pie at Silver Islet and pie at the Rossport Inn. Jay & Phyllis Green, Houghton, Michigan

Can’t Wait to Travel the Loop Again

We circled Lake Superior clockwise from August 17-26, 2012. In a night approach to Two Harbors, stop and visit the Giant Voyageur on Highway 61, who welcomes you to Voyageur Country. Most unusual surprise was the Caboose museum in Rossport, Ontario. We stopped at a small caboose on the edge of town and inquired of the young attendant inside, “Where is the museum of Cabooses?” She cheerfully replied, “This is More

The Highlight of the Trip

Completed the Circle Lake Superior tour this fall with two friends. We left Minneapolis on September 27 and arrived back in Minneapolis on October 7. They then returned to Oklahoma and Texas. For the most part, we had gorgeous, warm weather and the leaves were beautiful. The highlight of the trip was the boat tour of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore out of Munising, Michigan. We took the sunset cruise and More

The Scenery Is Breathtaking

My wife and I just completed a wonderful, nine-day, 1,717-mile drive around Lake Superior. We traveled counterclockwise from Bayfield, Wisconsin. We departed on Saturday, July 9, 2011, and completed the circle on Sunday, July 17. Weather was definitely our friend with a touch of rain on the first and eighth days only. The sun ruled supreme otherwise. In fact, thanks to Ontario’s Eastern Daylight Time zone, the sun didn’t set More

Mostly by Canoe

This past summer I circled Lake Superior, mostly by canoe. My friend Jess Laxo and I left in our canoe from Marquette on June 12 and returned to Marquette on August 24. We paddled roughly 700 miles of shoreline and completed the rest of the circle by car (it’s a long story). I hope this qualifies me for a sticker. Please please please please 🙂 My favorite spots along the More
