Our Lake Superior Circle Tour

We flew in and out of Minneapolis, rented a car and started the tour in Duluth, MN. We arrived in Duluth on Sept. 19 and spent two nights there, drove clockwise and ended up completing the tour on Sept. 30. After our first two nights in Duluth, we spent one night each in Grand Marais, MN; Thunder Bay, ON; Terrace Bay, ON; Wawa, ON; Paradise, MI; Munising, MI; Silver Lake, More

Started in Duluth

I started the Circle Tour June 18, 2015 in Duluth and finished June 25. I drove clockwise. Next time I will take more time. I drove a Mazda Miata, and was only able to have the top down for about half of the trip due to rain. I especially enjoyed the stretch between Nipigon and Sault Ste. Marie. Another trip I’ll spend more time in Copper Harbor and Wawa. Pebble More

My Favorite Experiences

I recently traveled by car clockwise around Lake Superior from September 15-21, 2013, starting in Duluth, Minnesota. Some of my favorite experiences along the way are: watching waves crash at Stoney Point, Minnesota, Kakabeka Falls, the incredible views at Thunder Bay Lookout and Kama Bay, Carden Cove and Pebble Beach in Marathon, Ontario, Magpie High Falls at Wawa, Ontario, and enjoying a rainbow over Copper Harbor, Michigan. But a highlight More

Two Seniors in a Sporty Car

Hi, my friend Pat Eichler (from Florida) and I (from Wisconsin) finished the Lake Superior Circle Tour on August 7, 2013. We took my 2002 Chrysler Sebring Convertible to do the tour, and we had a fabulous time – two senior citizens in a sporty car on an adventure! We loved stopping at the many lake overviews on Hwy. 61 north of Duluth, MN, and the various waterfalls along the More

So Beautiful

Our trip was from September 10-16, 2012. We loved the shipwreck museum at Whitefish Bay. Well worth the time. We learned so much. The lighthouse at Crisp Point was well worth the drive and time. We loved seeing the ships go through the locks at Sault Ste. Marie. It was fun to see ships that we always see in Duluth at another point on the lake. The pebble beach in More

The More Time You Have, The Better

My husband and I made the Circle September 8-19, 2012. We started in Duluth, Minnesota. We went north to Grand Marais, into Canada and Thunder Bay. We only had hotel reservations for the first two nights, after that we just stopped wherever was interesting. We did stay couple nights in a few places. We lucked out with absolutely beautiful, perfect weather! We were a little early for peak foliage, although More
