Circling the Pond

This is our first long adventure with our “new” Little Guy teardrop-style camper. We enjoyed being off the ground, dry and warm during the mostly damp days of June 24 – July 7. Our major interests were fly fishing, canoeing and finding EarthCaches, but the tour guide led us to other treasures including many well-done visitor center displays. Our tour began in Grand Marais, Minnesota, where we spent two nights at More

Camp, Kayak and Golf…

We began our trip at Pictured Rocks with a day of hiking and a late afternoon of kayaking at dusk on Kingston Lake. The next day we golfed in Brimley overlooking the lake and the “1,000 footers.” We camped in “The Soo” to the pleasant sounds of ship horns heading into and out of the locks. After a morning of more ship viewing and stocking up on provisions, we had More

What a Special Place

Greetings, love the magazine & idea of the Lake Superior Circle Tour Club. I’ve been around the Big Lake a few times. The first with my family about 1967, age 12. We traveled with two other families and found our way north of the Big Lake near Jelico where we camped and fished for 10 days. To this date I’ve never seen so many big pike and walleye. I remember More

It Was an Awesome Trip!

We would like to join the Circle Tour Club! We left St. Louis, Missouri, on June 22 and just returned home today on July 5. We drove almost exactly 3,000 miles and our stops were: Porcupine Mountains: two nights, camped, hiked. Munising: three nights, stayed in a rental property. Pictured Rocks cruise, waterfalls, bikes on Grand Island. Pancake Bay Provincial Park: three nights, stayed in yurts on beach, great fishing. More

A Very Beautiful Trip

We really enjoy your magazine and this year we did the Circle Tour, something we’ve been going to do for a long time! So we decided to go clockwise, starting in Michigan. We tent camped most of the way and stayed with friends in Ashland, Wisconsin. We had our kayaks along and our friends had their canoe. We met interesting people in every place we stopped! We started on August More

Our Wonderful Trip

My wife, Patina, and I recently completed the Circle Tour! Her parents were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in Bayfield, Wisconsin, so we decided to leave our home in Middleton, Wisconsin, five days early and go the “long way” to Bayfield, via Canada! While a little disappointed we didn’t get to see any moose or bear, we just LOVED how there were so many random gravel roads and openings along More

We Loved Spotting Wildlife

We travelled from June 10-20, 2012. We particularly enjoyed the Apostle Islands, Pictured Rocks and Sleeping Giant. My husband was able to get some kayaking worked into the schedule in some very beautiful locales. We liked the remoteness of the drive, especially on the Canadian side. We love spotting wildlife that we don’t see in Indiana, and we weren’t disappointed. We saw moose, porcupine, bald eagle, bears and a wolf. More

Mostly by Canoe

This past summer I circled Lake Superior, mostly by canoe. My friend Jess Laxo and I left in our canoe from Marquette on June 12 and returned to Marquette on August 24. We paddled roughly 700 miles of shoreline and completed the rest of the circle by car (it’s a long story). I hope this qualifies me for a sticker. Please please please please 🙂 My favorite spots along the More
