Bucket List Item Checked!

Having grown up in Marquette, MI and living near the lake, I have always wanted to travel around it but never did before moving away. On our latest trip back home we decided now or never and headed west from Marquette to begin our journey. After a few hours visiting MTU in Houghton we headed to Ontonagan and Lake of the Clouds – a must see. From there, we headed More

Two Seniors in a Sporty Car

Hi, my friend Pat Eichler (from Florida) and I (from Wisconsin) finished the Lake Superior Circle Tour on August 7, 2013. We took my 2002 Chrysler Sebring Convertible to do the tour, and we had a fabulous time – two senior citizens in a sporty car on an adventure! We loved stopping at the many lake overviews on Hwy. 61 north of Duluth, MN, and the various waterfalls along the More

An Unforgettable Experience

My friend and I completed the Lake Superior Circle Tour and had an unforgettable experience! I have lived on Lake Superior for more than 30 years and yet I had never done the Circle Tour, so extremely happy we did it! We left Thunder Bay on the evening of July 15, 2013, and returned to Thunder Bay August 1. Some of our favourites were the entire drive from Thunder Bay More

Beautiful Ride

What a beautiful ride! Will do the trip again! In August 1988, we decided to circle Lake Superior a few months after our wedding. We took our old rusty Cavalier, spent over a week, taking our time, and camping along the lakeshore. In July 2013, we decided to circle the great lake again, as part of our 25th anniversary tours. This time we did it on motorcycles. In an earlier More

An Absolutely Wonderful Time

1. Our Trip included an overnight at Grand Marais, Michigan, staying at the North Shore Lodge and we rode the just recently completed route H58, which they are calling the Tail of the Dragon of the North. Was very beautiful seeing many sand cranes along the way. 2. We traveled this route to our next stop of Houghton, Michigan. On the way to Houghton we stopped at Miners Castle, a More

I Was Not Disappointed

Here is a synopsis of my entire trip. I rode my Lake Superior Circle Tour on my bike (really a Harley-Davidson with an aftermarket trike kit) this past July (2012). I did the tour solo and rode it clockwise. I had been planning this trip for several months. Each year since retirement I take an extended ride during the summer. Being originally from Michigan, I had spent a lot of More

One of My Favorite Vacations

In October of 1999, a friend from Chicago and I took one of my favorite vacations ever – we drove around Lake Superior! We left the night of September 30th from Minneapolis in my brand new Chevy Silverado truck that had less than 200 miles on it. We drove all night straight to Thunder Bay, Ontario, with a short stop in Duluth at Canal Park to ‘officially’ kick off our More
