Circling the Pond

This is our first long adventure with our “new” Little Guy teardrop-style camper. We enjoyed being off the ground, dry and warm during the mostly damp days of June 24 – July 7. Our major interests were fly fishing, canoeing and finding EarthCaches, but the tour guide led us to other treasures including many well-done visitor center displays. Our tour began in Grand Marais, Minnesota, where we spent two nights at More

Everything Was Amazing

We finished the Circle Tour on July 28, 2016. Our favorite part was Mount Josephine by Grand Portage. Everything was amazing. Our favorite place to eat was Montana’s and Studebaker’s. She was more impressed with Northern Minnesota. It was a special trip for her because her parents took her and her sister in 1968 on the same trip. Larry & Donna Gardner, Waukesha, WI

The Whole Trip Was Spectacular

My husband Doug and I completed the Circle Tour on September 28, 2014. We went 1,670 miles in eight days, we could have used a couple more days. The vast amount of trees, streams, waterfalls, small lakes and the islands on Lake Superior were amazing. A few of our favorites were Kakabeka Falls, Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, Whitefish Point Shipwreck Museum, and so much more. The most beautiful area for More

Enjoyed Every Minute

My wife and I, accompanied by our dog, Tyler, did the Circle Tour from September 4 through September 14, 2013, and enjoyed every minute of it. Highlights for us included the High Falls on the Pigeon River, Kakabeka Falls, Fort William Historical Park, Ouimet Canyon, gourmet dining, including a fabulous dessert, at the Serendipity Gardens Café in Rossport, Aguasabon Falls and Canyon, another fantastic dinner at Kinniwabi International Cuisine in More

An Excellent Trip

My husband and I completed the Circle Tour September 7-14, 2013. We started from Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan (where we live), and went clockwise around the Lake. (Several years ago we started from Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, and went counterclockwise as far as Terrace Bay, Ontario, but didn’t have time to go all the way.) The trip this month was a fulfillment of a years-long desire. We started off in More

I Loved the Trip

I made a counterclockwise loop of Lake Superior beginning at Duluth on August 4-15, 2013. I made overnight stops at Iron Mountain, Michigan; Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan (2 nights); Wawa, Ontario; Nipigon, Ontario (2 nights); Thunder Bay, Ontario (2 nights); Grand Portage, Minnesota (2 nights); and Duluth, Minnesota. I loved the trip. Special features were the many waterfalls and lighthouses, Young’s General Store in Wawa, the museum in Nipigon, amethyst More

What a Trip!

We left on August 8, returned on August 21. From Chicago to Marquette, clockwise around the Lake. What a trip! Spent the night in Bayfield, Grand Portage, although did not go to Isle Royale. On to Thunder Bay, Wawa, of course, Sault Ste. Marie. It was all so lovely. Just looked at some of the pictures. They don’t do it justice. Just wish we had done this when we were More

Many Favorite and Memorable Spots

I joined a group of 20 women to bicycle around Lake Superior. Our tour, arranged by the company WomanTours, which began and ended in Duluth, Minnesota, was scheduled for July 8 to August 2, 2013. Our first actual day of bicycling was July 9th and our last day of riding was August 1st. We began by traveling east with our first stop being Bayfield, Wisconsin. After that we spent 11 days More

Rich Beyond Our Expectations

My husband and I circumnavigated Lake Superior by car from July 15-27, 2013 – an extraordinary trip. We stayed in motels in Duluth, Thunder Bay, Marathon, Batchawana Bay (2 nights), Sault Ste. Marie, MI (2 nights), Marquette, Copper Harbor (3 nights), and Ironwood. Our invaluable guides were your Lake Superior Travel Guide magazine, Hunt’s Guide to the U.P., Around the Shores of Lake Superior by Margaret Bogue and the 1940 More
