One of the Most Beautiful Places We’ve Ever Seen

We are very happy to inform you that we have completed the total Circle Tour this July/August. The trip began from our home in Bayfield, Wisconsin, on July 28, 2014 and ended there on Aug. 11, 2014. During the 14 days, we drove 1,673 miles and saw one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever seen in all of our world travels. What made it so special was that not More

A Perfect Tour

We took our trip beginning May 31 arrived home on June 7, 2014. We started out in Superior, Wisconsin for a trip to the Anchor Bar for hamburger (which we found as good as advertised). We had left home in Shoreview, MN about 8 a.m., and had driven in rain all day. I kept saying I don’t think it can rain any harder, and it did. When we arrived in More

We Loved All of It

We have just completed our first circle tour of Lake Superior. It has been in two parts. Summer 2012: we traveled in Michigan from Sault Ste. Marie to Copper Harbor, over a period of about 8 days. We (wife, Karen, and our 90# flat-coat retriever named Jake) were camping along the way except in Copper Harbor, when we stayed in the King Copper Motel. We loved all of it … More

Enjoyed Every Minute

My wife and I, accompanied by our dog, Tyler, did the Circle Tour from September 4 through September 14, 2013, and enjoyed every minute of it. Highlights for us included the High Falls on the Pigeon River, Kakabeka Falls, Fort William Historical Park, Ouimet Canyon, gourmet dining, including a fabulous dessert, at the Serendipity Gardens Café in Rossport, Aguasabon Falls and Canyon, another fantastic dinner at Kinniwabi International Cuisine in More

An Excellent Trip

My husband and I completed the Circle Tour September 7-14, 2013. We started from Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan (where we live), and went clockwise around the Lake. (Several years ago we started from Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, and went counterclockwise as far as Terrace Bay, Ontario, but didn’t have time to go all the way.) The trip this month was a fulfillment of a years-long desire. We started off in More

It Was a Great Trip

My son, Patrick, and I rode our motorcycles around Lake Superior in July of this year. He was living in Caledonia, Minnesota, and I live in Faribault, Minnesota. We met at Slippery’s in Wabasha, Minnesota, on the morning of July 10 and rode north to Grand Marais, Minnesota. We spent the night there at the Harbor House Inn and Pie Place Café and proceeded across the Canadian border around the More

Our Trip Around Lake Superior

Starting on July 2, 2013, my husband and I made the trip around Lake Superior. Starting from Milford, Michigan, we entered Canada at Sault Ste. Marie. We spent the first two nights at Lake Superior Provincial Park, tent camping at the Agawa Bay campground. We loved the quiet, no-radio sites, hiking to the waterfalls on the Sand River and seeing the pictographs at Agawa Rock. From there we drove to More

Finished the Circle

My wife and I finished the circle of Lake Superior on Saturday, July 6, 2013, at 3 p.m. (EDT). Grand Marais, Grand Portage, Thunder Bay, the Sibley Peninsula, Rossport, Marathon, Wawa and to the Soo, Whitefish Point, Munising and home in Marquette. Dar and Becca Kuehl, Marquette, Michigan

We Did It!

Dear Circle Tour Club: WE DID IT! My girlfriend and I finally did the Lake Superior Circle Tour! On June 12, we left Dayton and returned on June 20. We started the tour at Sault Ste. Marie, watching 2 freighters in the locks – one going east and one going west. We then crossed the International Bridge and stopped at the Visitor’s Center to exchange money (and to get a More
