The Most Impressive Thing

Terry & I finished doing the Circle Tour with our truck pulling a Pop-Up Camper Trailer. September 25, 2012 – We began our trip from our home in Ham Lake, Minnesota, with our first stop (N/N) being Porcupine State Park. This is a beautiful Park and we had an excellent campsite. September 26 – Then on to the Keweenaw Peninsula which proved to be very interesting. We overnighted at F.J. More

Michigan Was Like a Picture

Went in September 2012. Missed the turnoff to the Amethyst Mine because of a big truck on Highway 17. Too bad! Loved the Hungry Moose Restaurant in Schreiber, Ontario. The color was fantastic! No red until Michigan, lots of variety of yellows and green there. Michigan was like a picture. The small towns weren’t that interesting in Ontario. Some of the road is very tree-lined, but that’s probably a good More

The More Time You Have, The Better

My husband and I made the Circle September 8-19, 2012. We started in Duluth, Minnesota. We went north to Grand Marais, into Canada and Thunder Bay. We only had hotel reservations for the first two nights, after that we just stopped wherever was interesting. We did stay couple nights in a few places. We lucked out with absolutely beautiful, perfect weather! We were a little early for peak foliage, although More

First Week of October

My husband and I just completed our clockwise circle of the Big Lake the first week of October. Living just a mile away from Lake Superior ourselves, we have always wondered about the other side of the lake. We were also surprised to find that many of our friends and neighbors had never been all the way around. Since we knew Michigan very well we focused on everywhere else and More

The Highlight of the Trip

Completed the Circle Lake Superior tour this fall with two friends. We left Minneapolis on September 27 and arrived back in Minneapolis on October 7. They then returned to Oklahoma and Texas. For the most part, we had gorgeous, warm weather and the leaves were beautiful. The highlight of the trip was the boat tour of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore out of Munising, Michigan. We took the sunset cruise and More

One of My Favorite Vacations

In October of 1999, a friend from Chicago and I took one of my favorite vacations ever – we drove around Lake Superior! We left the night of September 30th from Minneapolis in my brand new Chevy Silverado truck that had less than 200 miles on it. We drove all night straight to Thunder Bay, Ontario, with a short stop in Duluth at Canal Park to ‘officially’ kick off our More

For Our Honeymoon

My husband and I did the Circle Tour for our honeymoon Oct. 10-20, 1998. We now live in northern CA but often think about what a great trip that was. Luckily we had mostly good weather the whole way, although we missed the fall colors in Canada. We are thinking of doing the tour again for our 20th anniversary. We are reading the new Lake Superior Travel Guide and we enjoyed More

Fall Colors Were Fantastic

My wife and I completed the Circle Tour in late September and early October 1987. This was our honeymoon. The fall colors were fantastic. The views of Lake Superior were beautiful. We ran into snow in the U.P. of Michigan. It was a great time. We enjoyed the contrast in scenery. Canada was gorgeous and the lake was so blue!. Thanks. George Kotars, Eden Prairie, MN
