We Loved It

My husband (Ron Simmons) and I completed the Circle Tour during the dates of Aug. 16-25, 2014. We stayed at and enjoyed Sleeping Giant Provincial Park and Rainbow Falls Provincial Park. We day-hiked Ouimet Canyon walked the longest suspension bridge in Canada in that same area. Next trip, we will zip-line at that same location. At Rainbow Falls, we saw a large, healthy grey wolf. Our Golden Retriever (Sally) was More

Already Talking About Another Trip!

My husband Mark and I completed the Circle Tour July 19. We began at Sault Ste. Marie and absolutely loved the experience. The scenery is breathtaking. We traveled with our dog and small camper. We stayed at the National park, private, city, state and national forest campgrounds, each with its own uniqueness and beauty. Kakabeka Falls, the Apostle Islands, Ouimet Canyon, the moose, bear and birds we saw made this More

All in All, a Super Trip

We left Duluth on June 12 towing our camper and two dogs. First stop was Cascade River State Park just south of Grand Marais, MN. Nice park but no electrical hook ups. Next was Marie Louise Lake Campground in Sleeping Giant Provincial Park. Again, a nice park however the electrical hook up was quite a way away from our camper so we ended up “renting” a power cord for $100. More

We Loved All of It

We have just completed our first circle tour of Lake Superior. It has been in two parts. Summer 2012: we traveled in Michigan from Sault Ste. Marie to Copper Harbor, over a period of about 8 days. We (wife, Karen, and our 90# flat-coat retriever named Jake) were camping along the way except in Copper Harbor, when we stayed in the King Copper Motel. We loved all of it … More

Enjoyed Every Minute

My wife and I, accompanied by our dog, Tyler, did the Circle Tour from September 4 through September 14, 2013, and enjoyed every minute of it. Highlights for us included the High Falls on the Pigeon River, Kakabeka Falls, Fort William Historical Park, Ouimet Canyon, gourmet dining, including a fabulous dessert, at the Serendipity Gardens Café in Rossport, Aguasabon Falls and Canyon, another fantastic dinner at Kinniwabi International Cuisine in More

We Camped on Our Trip

My dog and I just completed the circle tour in 12 wonderful days. It was supposed to be a trip with my Mother as well but she passed away last spring and so I decided to do it in memory of her. Start date: August 15, end date: August 26. Our trip started with a dog agility show in Thunder Bay and then we also spent a few days with More

A Short Synopsis

September 2010 I spoke with some nice ladies about my interest in tenting around Lake Superior. I received much information and some printed material. Below is a short synopsis of what I have accomplished since the early ’50s. Started with my family camping the North Shore in the early ’50s; 2001 camped to Thunder Bay, Ontario, in a tent trailer; 2010, July, camped by myself in a tent and two More

A Wonderful Trip

My husband, Clark, and I left on Monday, September 17 heading up the North Shore for what turned out to be a 9-day trip around the entire lake. Because we live in Duluth (and have seen the North Shore all our lives), we headed for Sleeping Giant Campground for our first night. Funny thing happened … we ran into our neighbors! Didn’t know they were making the trip and vice More

Our Little Adventure

I’m requesting membership for our friends from Sundre, Alberta, who along with us completed the Circle Tour of Lake Superior last summer. Barry & Candy Panrucker along with border collies, Cujo & Buddy, AND ancient (20 years) cat Stache (as in moustache), arrived in Duluth August 24 … continuing on next day to meet us at our home on beautiful Lake Superior from where we all left for our little More

We’re Hooked!

Favorite spots and experiences: We spent almost 5 weeks traveling around Lake Superior in our little motorhome with our Springer spaniel, Polly. We’re hooked! Lake Superior really gets to you. Marc’s favorite spot was Pukaskwa National Park on the east side of the lake. The hiking there was spectacular, with views of the lake that reminded him of his home state of Maine. I liked Sleeping Giant Provincial Park, for More
