Best Motorcycle Trip I’ve Been On

Our Circle Tour trip ended on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2016. The beauty of nature from Duluth to Thunder Bay to Nipigon, to Wawa, to Sault Ste. Marie was absolutely beautiful motorcycling. The roads and weather were great. We stopped at Eagle Canyon Adventures in Dorion and walked the two suspension footbridges. Old Woman Bay in the Lake Superior Provincial Park, Wawa was my favorite stop. We also visited the Canadian More

We Didn’t Have a Bad Time Anywhere

We went with a group of us on motorcycles. Started at Gaylord, Michigan, and traveled counterclockwise. We stopped in Sault Ste. Marie and Wawa. Thunder Bay was a great place. We liked Silver Bay. The wind on the bridge in Duluth was incredible. We were leaning! We stopped in Houghton, then up to Copper Harbor and Brockway Mountain where it was very windy!! We took a picture of the bikes More

Riding Around the Lake

My brother and I recently completed the Lake Superior Circle Tour this season. We spent June 20-23, 2014, traveling clockwise around the lake. I was on a 2006 Yamaha FZ6 and he rode a 2003 Honda ST 1100. As far as motorcycle riding goes, a full rain suit is a must, along with a few different tints of safety glasses, earplugs and gloves with extended cuffs. When crossing the border More

We Loved All of It

We have just completed our first circle tour of Lake Superior. It has been in two parts. Summer 2012: we traveled in Michigan from Sault Ste. Marie to Copper Harbor, over a period of about 8 days. We (wife, Karen, and our 90# flat-coat retriever named Jake) were camping along the way except in Copper Harbor, when we stayed in the King Copper Motel. We loved all of it … More

Two Seniors in a Sporty Car

Hi, my friend Pat Eichler (from Florida) and I (from Wisconsin) finished the Lake Superior Circle Tour on August 7, 2013. We took my 2002 Chrysler Sebring Convertible to do the tour, and we had a fabulous time – two senior citizens in a sporty car on an adventure! We loved stopping at the many lake overviews on Hwy. 61 north of Duluth, MN, and the various waterfalls along the More

A Wonderful Trip

My husband, Clark, and I left on Monday, September 17 heading up the North Shore for what turned out to be a 9-day trip around the entire lake. Because we live in Duluth (and have seen the North Shore all our lives), we headed for Sleeping Giant Campground for our first night. Funny thing happened … we ran into our neighbors! Didn’t know they were making the trip and vice More

Give Yourself At Least a Week

When did you complete the Circle Tour? Saturday, July 28, 2012-Wednesday, August 1, 2012. What were your favorite spots and experiences on the Circle Tour? Camping at Grand Portage, Minnesota. The Port Iroquois Lighthouse. Riding my Harley from Grand Marais to Munising, Michigan. Which way is the best way to travel the Circle Route – Clockwise or Counterclockwise? I prefer to go from Duluth to Thunder Bay to Sault Ste. More

I Was Not Disappointed

Here is a synopsis of my entire trip. I rode my Lake Superior Circle Tour on my bike (really a Harley-Davidson with an aftermarket trike kit) this past July (2012). I did the tour solo and rode it clockwise. I had been planning this trip for several months. Each year since retirement I take an extended ride during the summer. Being originally from Michigan, I had spent a lot of More

We Had a Great Time

We completed the Lake Superior Circle tour the first week of August. We left from Kalamazoo, Michigan, on Saturday July 30th and headed to Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, with four other riders. Saturday night we stayed at Brimley State Park. Sunday morning Frank and I left the other four and headed for Copper Harbor, Michigan, via Whitefish Point. We didn’t make it that far the first day. We stayed in More

Breathtakingly Beautiful

My wife and I just completed the Circle Tour. It was breathtakingly beautiful. We started in Duluth on June 23 and returned to Duluth on June 28. We live in Baxter, Minnesota, and it was 1,550 miles door-to-door. Our favorite spots were: Pancake Bay Provincial Park with its endless beaches and the quaint town of Copper Harbor, Michigan, with its views from the Brockway Mountain highway. We are already planning More
