Superior Country lived up to its name for our second complete circle tour!

We took two weeks to circle Lake Superior this summer and had fun everywhere we went eating whitefish, poutine, pasties and blueberries and blueberry pancakes. We bought thimbleberry jams from the Jam Lady and at Jampot in Eagle River/Eagle Harbor, MI. We had a fun time riding the boat at the Soo Locks. The boardwalk in Sault Ste. Marie, ON and seeing the big duck was neat. We saw waterfalls that we’d never seen before in Ontario and the U.P. We climbed Mt. Marquette. The best meals we had were in Copper Harbor at the German themed Harbor Haus restaurant, at Kinniwabi Pines the service and meal was amazing in Wawa, ON. I recommend the Angry Trout in Grand Marais, MN and Old Rittenhouse Inn in Bayfield, WI. Marquette has awesome eating establishments also. Presque Isle Park in Marquette, Park Point in Duluth, and Neys Provincial Park near Marathon were the best swimming places. The Grand Sable Dunes were beautiful and Grand Marais, MI had a pretty place to see the northern lights. Thunder Bay has the best waterfall with Kakabeka Falls and the drive out to Silver Islet doesn’t disappoint though we were sad to see the general store was not open. Our kids splashed in mud puddles at Mount McKay in Thunder Bay. There is really not enough that you can say about this trip. The people around the lake are amazing. We went around the lake 9 years ago also before we had kids and had a great time. It was great to escape the heat of July and in August the time before up around the lake. We will do the trip a third time I’m sure!
