I spoke with some nice ladies about my interest in tenting around Lake Superior. I received much information and some printed material. Below is a short synopsis of what I have accomplished since the early ’50s.
Started with my family camping the North Shore in the early ’50s; 2001 camped to Thunder Bay, Ontario, in a tent trailer; 2010, July, camped by myself in a tent and two dogs from Superior-Bayfield-Hurley, Wisconsin, and Porcupine Mountains, Silver City, Wisconsin-Houghton, Michigan-Fort Wilson/Copper Harbor, Michigan. (Made my home base at Gogebic State Park, Michigan); 2010 September-same, but finished from L’Anse to Marquette, Michigan, (love that city); 2010 September 30 – took my son (from California) to Bayfield and Porcupine Mountains for full Fall color. The signage is easy to follow. Next trip will be from Marquette to Sault Ste. Marie, then from there to Thunder Bay (that will be two trips). I am 73, so I wish and pray to complete all of this and receive my sticker. I would like to form a group in Burnett County of people who like the Lake, have lived on the Lake, have traveled parts of the Lake and wish to see portions of the Lake.

Even though I got my Certificate of Completion early, I still finished the Circle Tour in June 2013. A woman took my picture at the Canadian border and asked the question, “How long did it take you?” I said, “Four years.” (Then, I said one week each year.) The first year I camped with a tent and two dogs, second year camped with a Jayco camper and two dogs, third year went to Isle Royale and camped at Grand Portage with my two dogs, fourth year I camped in my Jayco camper and two dogs and finished the trip in Canada. The part I like best is that I am 75 years old.
