The Magic of a Colorful Autumn Circle Drive

On October 23, 2013, my family completed the Circle Tour of Lake Superior. We had so many favorite spots and experiences, but the best include seeing the many waterfalls along the tour (I had no idea there would be so many!), eating at Tycoon’s in Duluth (great Whitefish), Dunc Lake near White River, Ontario, provided a great sunset while we stayed at Gloria’s Motel (which had a beautiful view of More

With Two Extra Side Trips

I completed the Circle Tour of Lake Superior between Sept. 28, 2013 (when I left Stratford, ON where I live now) and Oct. 20. The trip included two extra side trips: a rail trip from Sault Ste. Marie, ON to Hearst, ON through the Agawa Canyon and a foray into Winnipeg, MB. The strictly Lake Superior Circle Tour from Sault Ste. Marie, ON to Sault Ste. Marie, MI was from More

Our Second Fall Trip

We just returned from our second fall trip around the Lake! Both times we went counterclockwise, taking 6-7 days. A week is not really long enough to see all great things along the way, but we have tried to visit new places with each trip. We were most surprised with all the hills in Ontario. We went the last week of September each time and the variability of color was More

Never Disappointed

For my birthday this year, my husband treated me to a trip around Lake Superior. On September 25 we left Thunder Bay and drove to Wawa where we stayed the night. The next day we carried on to Sault Ste. Marie (spectacular drive). We took the Agawa Canyon Train Tour on the 27th and drove on to Houghton, Michigan, on the 28th. On the 29th we toured the picturesque Keweenaw More

My Favorite Experiences

I recently traveled by car clockwise around Lake Superior from September 15-21, 2013, starting in Duluth, Minnesota. Some of my favorite experiences along the way are: watching waves crash at Stoney Point, Minnesota, Kakabeka Falls, the incredible views at Thunder Bay Lookout and Kama Bay, Carden Cove and Pebble Beach in Marathon, Ontario, Magpie High Falls at Wawa, Ontario, and enjoying a rainbow over Copper Harbor, Michigan. But a highlight More

So Much to See

We began our Circle Tour from Des Moines, Iowa. We spent a night in Duluth and will definitely go back to the city as there was more to see than we were able to in one day. Then we headed north around the lake. The scenery was spectacular and highlighted by the many waterfalls and lighthouses. Our favorite part of the trip was in the U.P. of Michigan. The Shipwreck More

Loved It!

We just completed our first circle tour – and loved it! Favorite sites: Adventure Mine in the U.P. of Michigan, Maldoons Pasties in Munising, Michigan, and the two beautiful provincial parks we stayed in: Rabbit Blanket Lake at Lake Superior Provincial Park and Sleeping Giant. Thank you for your wonderful magazine, we used it as our guidebook during our 11-day adventure. Jennifer & Brad Slater, Plymouth, Minnesota

So Beautiful

We left Mankato, Minnesota, on September 1 to do the Lake Superior Circle Tour counterclockwise. Going to Ashland first and continuing on from there, it was so beautiful. We put on 2,809 miles on our truck pulling our travel trailer. Our favorite among the many was Sault Ste. Marie and watching all the ships coming and going. There are so many places to see, we would love to go back More
